another shot from last week’s shoot…

Duncan and I went out on the spur of the moment today, and ended up scouting the area around the St. John’s Bridge. The light was lovely, and it felt absolutely great just to be out with a camera in hand. I did end up with a few shots to work with over the next couple of weeks. Although I don’t feel like my slump is over, when I went through the card, I did find some interesting shots.

Here’s one quickly processed shot from the outing, by a little reflecting pool at, of all places, the Portland Pollution Control Laboratory (which was actually a very cool place, architecturally and landscape-wise).

This place was just blue, blue, blue. Of course, it helped having a polarizer; I just left it on when shooting during the day (thanks, Mike!).

…and yes, the same hat

When Liza and I got back into Oregon, after five days on the road, we decided to push on a bit further than we had done on any other day, ending up driving nearly 800 miles.

That last, 80-mile push turned out to be the best decision we made on the whole trip, because we happened upon the most beautiful sunset we had seen over the entire 3,000-mile journey, and a wonderful “welcome home” from Oregon to Liza. It was the only time during the entire trip that I pulled out the tripod and shot with the 5DMkII (although I did take a few pictures “on the go” with it).
